Main ingredients –paneer (cottage cheese), onion, tomato and capsicum

Step by step recipe of paneer bhurji –crumbled paneer is cooked with onion, tomato and capsicum, with a blander of Indian spices and garam masala.

It’s a popular north Indian dish, basically this dish is prepared as a dry recipe for snacks time. But here it is not too dry or too liquidy, but it is prepared in thick consistency so you can have it easily with fulka/parantha/rice.

Often I make paneer bhurji when the milk cuddles at my home. Because I think this recipe is very simple to make and very delicious to have.

Just 4-5 steps and this recipe is done.

Ingredients for paneer bhurji –

  1. Paneer -1 cup
  2. Chopped onions -1/2 cup
  3. Chopped capsicum -1/2 cup
  4. Chopped tomatoes -1/2 cup
  5. Chopped green chilies -1 teaspoon(tsp)
  6. Finely chopped ginger -1/2 tsp
  7. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander powder -1 tsp
  10. Garam masala powder -1 tsp
  11. Malai -1 tablespoon
  12. Oil -2 tablespoon
  13. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  14. Bay leaves/tej patta -2
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Chopped coriander for garnishing

How to make the paneer bhurji recipe –

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and temper it with cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  2. Now add chopped onions to it.
  3. Also add the green chilies and ginger to it and mix.
  4. Sauté until onions are translucent.
  5. Now add the chopped capsicum into the pan.
  6. Mix and cook.
  7. When the capsicum is slightly cooked add the tomatoes into it.
  8. Mix well and cook for few seconds.
  9. Now add in the red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to it.
  10. Cook this mixture until the oil comes up.
  11. Now whisk the malai and add into this mixture.
  12. Cook for 1 minute and add the crumbled paneer into it.
  13. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  14. Now add the garam masala into the bhurji, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  15. Now garnish it with chopped coriander and serve hot with chapatti/pulav/parantha.

Step by step recipe with pictures –

Heat the oil in a pan

And temper it with cumin seeds and bay leaves.

Now add chopped onions to it.

Also add the green chilies and ginger to it and mix.

Mix well and sauté the mixture.

Stir and cook so they don’t stick to the pan.

Sauté until onions are translucent.

Now add the chopped capsicum into the pan.

Mix and cook.

Cook cook cook.

Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes.

When the capsicum is slightly cooked add the tomatoes into it.

Mix well and cook for few seconds.

Now add in the red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to it.

Mix properly to cook it nicely.

Stir and cook.

Cook this mixture until the oil comes up.

Take the malai in a bowl

Now whisk the malai

And add into this mixture.

mix well and cook the mixture unitl oil comes up

Cook for 1 minute and add the crumbled paneer into it.

Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Now add the garam masala into the bhurji

Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

Now garnish it with chopped coriander

Mix well.

And serve hot with chapatti/pulav/parantha.
