Step by step recipe of moong and rice arancini balls –very tasty and delicious arancini balls made with leftover plain rice and moong. They are flavored with minced garlic and seasoned with oregano, chili flacks, black pepper powder and salt. Mixed all the ingredients, stuffed with cheese, coated with flour and corn starch mixture and bread crumbs, then they deep fried in oil.

Arancini balls are a classical dish of Italy, they make them with risotto. But here I am giving this dish to a deshi touch and making it with plain rice and moong. Which we often make (in Rajasthan) as a simple rice recipe, and serve this along with powdered sugar and lots of ghee.

I was little confused and tensed about the recipe I was making because I had never ever tasted the original arancini balls, and still I don’t even know how actually they are. But what I prepared here was amazingly superb and delicious.

And I assure you that you gonna love it.

Just mix the rice and moong season it with oregano, chili flacks, pepper and salt mix well and stuff with cheese cube, make a ball, coat with flour mixture then with bread crumbs and fry them. Walllaaahhhh its ready yum yum.

Lets see what we need for it –

Ingredients for arancini balls –

For balls -

  1. Cooked rice -1 cup
  2. Cooked moong -1 cup
  3. Oregano -1 tsp
  4. Chili flacks -1 tsp
  5. Black pepper powder -1/2 tsp
  6. Cheese cubes –as required
  7. Salt to taste

For coating –

  1. All-purpose flour -1 tbsp
  2. Corn starch -1 tbsp
  3. Chili flacks -1/4 tsp
  4. Oregano -1/4 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Bread crumbs
  7. Oil for deep fry

How to make it? –

  1. Take the rice and moong in a mixing ball.
  2. Add the seasoning in it. Such as oregano, chili flacks, pepper and salt.
  3. Mix everything and make dough of it.
  4. Take a small portion of the mixture and make an impression with your thumb. See in the picture below.
  5. Now put a piece of cheese to the center.
  6. And make a ball of it; make all the balls in the same way.
  7. Now put them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  8. Now take a small mixing bowl and add All-purpose flour -1 tbsp, Corn starch -1 tbsp, Chili flacks -1/4 tsp, Oregano -1/4 tsp, Salt to taste in it. Add 3-4 tablespoons of water and mix.
  9. Now heat oil in a kadai.
  10. Now take a ball and dip in the all-purpose flour mixture then roll in the bread crumbs.
  11. And deep fry the balls in low to medium flames.
  12. Take out the balls when golden brown.
  13. Serve the balls with sauce or chutney.
