CHANA DAL WITH CABBAGE, HOW TO MAKE CHANA DAL WITH CABBAGE RECIPE

A step by step recipe of Chana dal with cabbage recipe –finely chopped cabbage cooked with soaked chana dal (split Bengal gram).

This is a very simple and delicious recipe. But very healthy to have. Even you can give to your kids in their Tiffin box. They will not mind it.

Ingredients for chana dal with cabbage –

  1. Finely chopped cabbage -200 gms
  2. Soaked chana dal -1 cup
  3. Chopped onion -1 cup
  4. Chopped tomato -1 cup
  5. Garlic-ginger paste -1 tbsp
  6. Red chili powder -2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder -1 and ½ tbsp
  9. Garam masala -1 tbsp
  10. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  11. Bay leaves/tej patta -2
  12. Oil -1 tbsp
  13. Green coriander -1 tbsp
  14. Salt to taste

Method to prepare chana dal with cabbage –

  1. Heat oil in a cooker pan.
  2. Temper it with cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  3. Now add chopped onion in it.
  4. Also add garlic-ginger paste into it.
  5. Sauté till onions gets translucent.
  6. Now add chopped tomatoes into it.
  7. Mix well and add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder into it.
  8. Mix well and cook until oil comes up.
  9. Now add chana dal into it.
  10. Mix well and cook for two minutes.
  11. Now add cabbage.
  12. Also add salt and garam masala into it.
  13. Mix well and add 1/2 cup of water into it.
  14. Cook for about 3-4 whistle. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with chapatti and rice.
