CARROT IDLI, HOW TO MAKE CARROT RAVA IDLI RECIPE

A step by step recipe of carrot idli –this is a simple rava idli but have twist of carrots in it.

I often make the rava idli in my home so I always want to do some experiments in this simple rava idli. Some time I make them as tirangi idli or sometime I add onions and peas. So there will be always a twist into it.

And winter season is the perfect season for these experiments. Because we get lots of vegetables in it which our kids love them too.

So how you make a rava idli this recipe is also same like that. Just you have to grate the carrot and mix it into the batter. And then make your idlis with it.

I always use the semolina in my home to make many recipes with it like – suji ke laddoo, suji ka sheera, rava upma, rava uttapam, rava set dosa, suji ka chila, rava idli, tirangi idli and chawal suji ka chila.

Just because of its health benefits.

What are the health benefits of the semolina?

  1. It is a good source of vitamin E and B group. These vitamins are good for immunity.
  2. It’s a good source of energy.
  3. It is beneficial for the health of bones and nervous system.
  4. It prevents overeating.
  5. Improves heart health.

So lets proceed to the recipe –

Ingredients for carrot idli –

  1. Suji/semolina -2 cups
  2. Curd -2 cups
  3. Carrots -2
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Baking soda -1/4 tsp
  6. Eno fruit salt -1 tsp
  7. Coriander leaves chopped -1 tbsp
  8. Curry leaves chopped -5-6
  9. Oil -2 tbsp
  10. Black mustard seeds -1 tsp

Method to prepare carrot idli –

  1. Mix the semolina and curd.
  2. Also add the baking soda and salt to it. Rest it for 30 -35 minutes.
  3. Grate the carrots.
  4. Add it into the batter.
  5. Also add the chopped coriander and curry leaves.
  6. Add some salt to balance the sweetness of carrots.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Add the eno fruit salt into it.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Heat oil in a pan.
  11. Temper it with black mustard seeds.
  12. Add this in the batter.
  13. Mix well.
  14. Now Greece the idli maker.
  15. Pour the batter into it.
  16. Place it in the pot.
  17. Put the lid on it.
  18. Cook for 15-20 minutes. And open the lid.
  19. Let them to slightly cool and remove from the maker.
  20. Serve hot with sambher.
