STUFFED MASALA BREAD PAKODA

A step by step recipe of masala bread pakoda –an Indian chat recipe of bread pakoda which is stuffed with a potato masala, dipped in a gram flour batter and deep fried in oil.

This recipe, I know it’s known by everyone in India atleast. It’s a mouthwatering recipe of street chaat.

This recipe I have prepared about 4 months ago, but I couldn’t post. But now I am posting this as a chai time snack recipe.

Ingredients for preparing masala bread pakoda –

For masala –

  1. Oil -1 tbsp
  2. Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  3. Boiled potato -2 cups
  4. Chopped onion -1/2 cup
  5. Green chilies -1 tbsp
  6. Red chili powder -1 and ½ tsp
  7. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder -1 tsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Chopped coriander for garnishing
  11. Crushed coriander seeds -1/4 tsp

Other ingredients –

  1. Bread -7-8
  2. Gram flour -5-7 tbsp
  3. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  4. Crushed garlic -1 tsp
  5. Carom seeds -1/4 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil for frying

Method to prepare masala bread pakoda –

Making of masala –

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  2. Temper it with cumin seeds.
  3. Now add chopped chillies and onions into it.
  4. Sauté till onions are translucent.
  5. Now add the powdered masala such as 1 and ½ tsp of red chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp of coriander powder into it.
  6. Mix well and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Now add the mashed potato and salt to it.
  8. Also sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Mix well the entire mixture.
  10. Now add the dried and crushed coriander seeds into this potato mixture. Mix well and keep aside to cool.

How to make the gram flour batter? –

  1. Take the gram flour in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add salt, red chili powder, crushed garlic and carom seeds into it.
  3. Add water little by little.
  4. Mix well to make a lumps free batter.

How to make the masala bread pakora? –

  1. Cut the bread into triangles.
  2. Spread the potato masala on one triangle.
  3. Cover it with another piece of bread.
  4. Now dip it into the batter.
  5. Cover the whole bread with gram flour batter.
  6. Meanwhile heat the sufficient oil to fry the pakodas into it.
  7. Now put the bread pakoda in the kadai.
  8. Deep fry them until they are golden brown and come up on the oil.
  9. Remove  pakoda from the kadai and serve hot with green chutney or red saunth ki chutney.
