A step by step recipe of aloo matar masala recipe – a very simple and tasty recipe of boiled baby potatoes and fresh green peas. Cooked in a gravy of green coriander chutney.

This is just another level of aloo matar ki sabji.

As I have already mentioned in my earlier recipes that I like to innovate and try to do experiments with the regular food. Here also I have tried a different style of aloo matar ki sabji, and I make you sure that it will not let you down. This is really a tasty vegetable recipe.

As we all know that green peas and potato have their own health nutrition.

Health benefits of green peas –

  1. These are one of the most nutritious leguminous vegetables rich in health benefiting phyto-nutrients, minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants.
  2. Fresh pea pods are an excellent source of folic acid.
  3. It’s a very good source of vitamin k and C.

Health benefits of potato –

  1. Potatoes are one of the finest sources of starch, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber.
  2. 100 Gms of potato provides 70 calories, however, they contain very little fat and no cholesterol.
  3. The dietary fiber in them increases the bulk of the stool, thus, it helps to prevent constipation, decreases absorption of dietary cholesterol and thereby, lower plasma LDL cholesterol.

What we need to make this recipe –

  1. Boiled and peeled baby potatoes/chote aloo -1/2 kg
  2. Fresh seeds of pea/matar ke daane -1 cup
  3. Chopped onion/pyaj -1/2 cup
  4. Chopped green chilies/hari mirch -1 tbsp
  5. Grated ginger/adarak -1 tsp
  6. Green chutney/hare dhaniya ki chutney -1/2 cup
  7. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder/dhaniya -1 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder/haldi -1/2 tsp
  10. Oil -3 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste

How to make this recipe –

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Temper it with cumin seeds.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté.
  4. Add chopped green chilies and grated ginger in it.
  5. Sauté till the onions are translucent.
  6. Crush the peas in a mortar.
  7. Now add the peas in it.
  8. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to it.
  9. Mix well and cook until oil comes up. Now add green chutney into it.
  10. Mix well and cook for two minutes.
  11. Now add the peeled and boiled potatoes in it.
  12. Mix well and cook for two minutes.
  13. Serve hot with chapatti.
