ALOO KOFTA RECIPE, a simple recipe of aloo bonda

A step by step recipe of aloo kofta – an another delicious but simple recipe of Indian chaat.

This recipe I made at the same time when I cooked the masala bread pakoda recipe. This aloo kofta you can also use in your vada pav recipe too. I know that vada is slightly different from this aloo kofta and I will post the recipe of vada pav very soon. But if you have pav at home and you are making this kofta too then it will not go wrong if you have it as vada pav.

If you have left over aloo ka kofta at home you can make a very delicious recipe of malai kofta(without paneer also it will be a tasty curry recipe).

Enjoy this delicious recipe with saunth chutney/hari chutney/sauce.

What we need to make the aloo kofta? –

For masala –

  1. Oil -1 tbsp
  2. Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  3. Boiled potato -2 cups
  4. Chopped onion -1/2 cup
  5. Green chilies -1 tbsp
  6. Red chili powder -1 and ½ tsp
  7. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder -1 tsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Chopped coriander for garnishing
  11. Crushed coriander seeds -1/4 tsp

Other ingredients –

  1. Gram flour -5-7 tbsp
  2. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  3. Crushed garlic -1 tsp
  4. Carom seeds -1/4 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil for frying

Method to prepare aloo kofta –

Making of masala –

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  2. Temper it with cumin seeds.
  3. Now add chopped chillies and onions into it.
  4. Sauté till onions are translucent.
  5. Now add the powdered masala such as 1 and ½ tsp of red chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp of coriander powder into it.
  6. Mix well and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Now add the mashed potato and salt to it.
  8. Also sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Mix well the entire mixture.
  10. Now add the dried and crushed coriander seeds into this potato mixture. Mix well and keep aside to cool.

How to make the gram flour batter? –

  1. Take the gram flour in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add salt, red chili powder, crushed garlic and carom seeds into it.
  3. Add water little by little.
  4. Mix well to make a lumps free batter.

How to make aloo kofta recipe? –

  1. Make small laddoos of the potato masala.
  2. Dip these balls in the gram flour batter.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai to fry the kofta.
  4. Now allow the dipped kofta in hot oil. Lower the flame and fry your kofta.
  5. Fry them until brown.
  6. Now remove from the oil and serve hot with green chutney and red chutney.

Step by step recipe with pictures –
