DAL PALAK RECIPE, how to make spinach dal recipe

Main ingredients –spinach and mix lentils

A step by step recipe of dal palak or spinach and mix dal curry –a very delicious and healthy recipe of spinach and mix lentils, which will enhance the taste of your taste buds. Which simply boiled and and then fried with the masalas like onion, tomatoes and dried powdered spices.

Dal palak is a healthy and delicious recipe to join in your meal. Its full of protein rich assorted lentils(dal), fiber and iron rich spinach and a delicious taste of spices.

Ingredients for dal palak –

  1. Spinach/palak -2 cups
  2. Mix lentils/dal -1 cup
  3. Chopped onions -1 cup
  4. Chopped tomatoes -1 cup
  5. Chopped green chilies -1 tbsp
  6. Chopped ginger and garlic -1 tbsp
  7. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder -1 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  10. Oil -3 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Cumin seeds -1 tsp

Method to prepare dal palak –

  1. Chop the spinach and wash them nicely to remove the mud from it.
  2. Now take the spinach and dal in a pressure pan.
  3. Add 1/3 tsp of turmeric powder and salt to it.
  4. Now add 2 cups of water into the pan.
  5. Pressure cook it for about 4 whistles.
  6. Now remove the pressure and open the lid of the cooker. Mix it to make smooth.
  7. Now heat oil in a pan and temper it with cumin seeds.
  8. Add the chopped chilies and onions in it.
  9. Also add the chopped garlic and ginger into the pan.
  10. Cook it until the onions are translucent.
  11. Now add the chopped tomatoes into it.
  12. Add the powdered spices like red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt into it.
  13. Mix well and cook until the oil leaves the pan.
  14. Now add the boiled dal and spinach into it.
  15. Cook it for another 5 minutes.
  16. Serve hot with rice or roti.
