PUDINA RICE RECIPE, how to make mint pulav recipe

A step by step recipe of pudina rice or mint pulav –a very simple but tasty recipe of rice. Which has a fresh taste of mint in it.

Pudina rice can be packed for the lunch box too with raita or any veggie preparation.

To make pudina rice, I blended mint leaves, fresh coconut, bay leaves, cloves, cumin, green chilies and garlic. And then fried this paste until half. And mixed the boiled rice in it. This is super yummy recipe of rice in my recipe box of rice.

This recipe is so easy to make that it is perfect for bachelors and office going women.

In this recipe of rice, I have used freshly boiled rice but if you want you can use your leftover rice too.

 My other rice recipes are –cucumber and pomegranate curd rice, matar pulav, tiranga pulav, chasani ke chawal, Chitrana, rajma chawal with chana sprouts, veg pulav etc.

Ingredients for making pudina rice or mint pulav –

  1. Boiled rice -3 cups( I have boiled them with some salt so that the rice gets the taste of salt)
  2. Mint leaves -2 cups
  3. Fresh coconut -1/2 cup
  4. Green chilies -4
  5. Garlic cloves -8-9
  6. Cloves -4-5
  7. Black pepper -7-8
  8. Bay leaves -3
  9. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Oil -2 tbsp
  12. Black mustard seeds -1 tsp
  13. Curry leaves -6-7

Method to prepare pudina rice –

  1. First make a paste of mint, coconut, green chilies, garlic cloves, black pepper, cloves, bay leaves in a mixer grinder.
  2. Now heat oil in a pan or kadai.
  3. Temper it with black mustard seeds.
  4. Also add curry leaves for more refreshment.
  5. Now add the ground paste in it.
  6. Also sprinkle some turmeric powder and salt to it.
  7. Now mix the paste and cook it well.
  8. Cook it until it reduces and leaves the pan.
  9. Now add the boiled rice in it.
  10. Mix well to allow the pudina paste to spread equally.
  11. Serve hot with rayta or as it is.

Step by step recipe with pictures –

Take all the ingredients for making a paste of it. ( I have forgot to add green chilies here, which I have added at the time of grinding.

Put all these ingredients in grinding jar to paste of mint, coconut, green chilies, garlic cloves, black pepper, cloves, bay leaves.

Make a paste of it.

Now heat oil in a pan or kadai.
