JEERA RICE RECIPE, how to make plain jeera rice recipe

A step by step recipe of jeera rice –a very floppy and delicious recipe of rice. This rice recipe is a comfort food for all generations. Where rice is cooked with cumin seeds, bay leaves, salt and ghee.

This is a simple rice preparation which I often cook with rajma/chole/paneer recipes.

This is my daughter’s favorite rice recipe. I think this is the simplest recipe of rice, where you don’t have to do anything. Just put these 4-5 ingredients in a pot and allow them to cook.

Ingredients for jeera rice –

  1. Rice -2 cups
  2. Water 4-5 cups
  3. Cumin seeds -1 tbsp
  4. Bay leaves -2-3
  5. Ghee -2 tbsp
  6. Salt to taste

Method to prepare jeera rice –

  1. Rinse the rice thoroughly at 2-3 times.
  2. Now heat water in a large pot or pan.
  3. Add the cumin seeds, bay leaves and ghee into it.
  4. When the water started to boil add the rice in it.
  5. Also add salt and mix well.
  6. Cook the rice until the rice are completely cooked.
  7. Strain them in a strainer.
  8. Serve your floppy rice with any curry recipes such as dal fry, paneer, rajma or chole.

Step by step recipe with pictures –

Rinse the rice thoroughly at 2-3 times.

Now heat water in a large pot or pan.

Add the cumin seeds, bay leaves and ghee into it.

When the water started to boil add the rice in it.

Also add salt and mix well.

Cook them well. the water will start bubbling. stir the rice in the meanwhile so they dont stuck in the bottom of the pan.

Cook the rice until the rice are completely cooked.

Strain them in a strainer.

Serve your floppy rice with any curry recipes such as dal fry, paneer, rajma or chole.
