A step by step recipe of pav bhaji –bhaji is a mixture of lots of veggies, which are boiled and then cooked in a spicy and tangy masala of onion, tomatoes and other Indian spices.

Pav bhaji is one of the most known recipes of Indian street food. And love it with onion and lemon. It tastes amazing when prepared in butter.

I usually make it at home, because it costs 30-40 rupees a plate. And if you make it at home it will be cheaper and healthy.

I know so many people think that, how we can make it at home. It will be so difficult to make. But believe me there is nothing so hard to make. You just have faith on you and then you see, the dishes you will prepare will be absolutely delicious and mouthwatering.

Ingredients for pav bhaji –

  1. Pav –as par your need
  2. Some chopped Mix vegetables (cauliflower, potato, carrot, peas, capsicum and beans)- 2 cups
  3. Chopped onions -1 cups
  4. Chopped tomatoes -1 cup
  5. Green chilies-garlic-ginger paste -2 tbsp
  6. Red chili powder -1 and ½ tsp
  7. Coriander powder -2 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Lemon juice -1 tbsp
  11. Oil -1 tbsp
  12. Butter -2 tbsp
  13. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  14. Bay leaves -2
  15. Pav bhaji masala -1 tbsp (optional as I didn’t use it)
  16. Chopped coriander for garnishing
  17. Some chopped onions and lemon wedges for serving

How to make pav bhaji recipe –

Preparing bhaji for pav bhaji -

  1. Wash the vegetables and strain them. Take the vegetables in a pressure cooker and boil them with ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Boil for about 4-5 whistles.
  3. Now open the lid and smash with a smasher.
  4. Now heat oil in a pan and add 1 tbsp of butter in it.
  5. Temper it with cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  6. Add the ginger-garlic-green chili paste.
  7. Stir and sauté for 2 seconds.
  8. Now add the chopped onions in it.
  9. Stir and sauté till translucent.
  10. Now add chopped tomatoes in it.
  11. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.
  12. Now add the spices in it such as, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt to it.
  13. Now mix and cook for about 5-6 minutes with occasional stirring.
  14. Cook until the oil leaves the pan.
  15. Now pour the cooked and mashed vegetables into the pan.
  16. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  17. Now add the lemon juice in it. Mix well and switch off the flame.
  18. Now garnish it with chopped coriander and serve with buttered pav.

How to prepare pav for pav bhaji –

  1. Heat a tawa and apply butter on it.
  2. Cut the pav to make half of it.
  3. Put them on the tawa.
  4. And cook from both the sides by applying butter on it.

chop and Wash the vegetables and strain them.

Now add chopped tomatoes in it.

Mix and cook for 2 minutes.

Now add the spices in it such as, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt to it.

Now mix and cook for about 5-6 minutes with occasional stirring.

Cook until the oil leaves the pan.

Now pour the cooked and mashed vegetables into the pan.

Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

Now add the lemon juice in it. Mix well and switch off the flame.

Now garnish it with chopped coriander and serve with buttered pav.
