Dhokla recipe – Bengal gram flour mixed with curd and cooked in steam.

Dhokla is a very famous dish of Gujarat, most of we all know about it. In my recipe of dhokla I have added a paste of ginger & green chili to make it spicy & delicious.

 After so many experiments, I got success to make a spongy & tasty dhokla.This dhokla you can serve it with green chutney or sauce or simply you can have it with fixed green chili.

 Here is the step by step recipe of my dhokla

Ingredients to make dhokla -

For dhokla batter –

  1. Bengal gram flour – 1 & 1/2 cup
  2. Curd – 1 cup
  3. Sugar – 1 tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Baking soda – 1 tsp
  6. Eno salt – 1 pouch
  7. ginger – green chili paste – 1 tbsp

To temper-

  1. Oil – 1 tbsp
  2. Black mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  3. Curry leaves – 7-8
  4. Water -2 cups
  5. Green chilies slited in 4 ways -4
  6. Lemon juice – 2 tbsp

Method to prepare dhokla –

  1. Mix all the ingredients of dhokla batter and let it to rest for 25-30 minutes.
  2. Now Greece a plate or a dish to make dhokla with oil & pour the batter in it.
  3. Now place the dish in a steamer & steam it for about 20 minutes and then check it with a spoon or knife. If it is ready or not.
  4. Now let it to be cool.
  5. Now mix the sugar & lemon juice in 2 cups of water and keep aside.
  6. Now heat oil in a pan & temper it with mustard seeds, curry leaves & green chilies.
  7. When mustard seeds get splutter pour the lemon juice water in it & mix.
  8. Now pour this entire mixture on the dhokla, now cut in pieces and serve the dhokla with green chutney.
