Besaniya Bhindi recipe - diagonally chopped Bhindi cooked with besan.

This recipe is basically a Rajasthani cuisine, where ladyfingers are first cooked completely and then the besan is added. You can also add the curd in it instead of lemon juice that also gives a very nice texture and taste to it.

I don’t know that it is my recipe or anyone else have created it, but I have tried it by my own and it was loved by everyone at my home. So from that day I had started making this besaniya Bhindi and who ever had it, they asked me the recipe of my besaniya Bhindi. So now proceed to the step by step recipe-

Ingredients for besaniya bhindi –

  1. Bhindi(lady finger)  -1/2 kg
  2. Besan(gram flour) -1/2 cup
  3. Green chili -4-5
  4. Oil – 2 tbsp
  5. Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  6. Black mustard seeds -1 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Turmeric powder -1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder -1 and ½ tsp
  10. Red chili powder -1 and ½ tsp
  11. Lemon juice -2 tbsp

Method to prepare besaniya Bhindi –

  1. Thinly slice the Bhindi and green chilies diagonally.
  2. Heat oil in a kadhai, add cumin seeds and black mustard seeds and let them to splutter.
  3. Now add green chilies and sauté.
  4. Now add the Bhindi, turmeric powder and salt. And let the Bhindi to cook.
  5. Now add chili powder, coriander powder and gram flour and toss to mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Now add the lemon juice and mix well.
  7. Serve hot the besaniya Bhindi with fulka.
