A step by step recipe of suji ka sheera/halwa –roasted semolina in ghee, cooked with water and sugar, garnished with nuts.

This is an easy and quick sweet dish recipe, which we often make at our home for Prasad. We also make it as Sunday breakfast with dry chana masala. Suji Halwa is a very popular sweet dish all over India and is made on religious occasions, as parsad (offering to God). After prayer Halwa is served to devotees as a blessing.

Ingredients for suji ka sheera –

  1. Semolina/rava/suji -1 cup
  2. Water -2 cups
  3. Sugar -1 cup or as par your taste
  4. Ghee -4 tbsp
  5. Raisins/kishmish -2 tbsp
  6. Chopped cashew and almond for garnishing

Method for preparing suji ka halwa –

  1. Heat ghee in a kadhai and add semolina into it.
  2. Roast the semolina with continuous stirring till brown.
  3. Heat water in another pan and add it to the roasted semolina.
  4. Keep stirring after adding the water otherwise lumps will form.
  5. It should be a lump free thick batter.
  6. Keep stirring until the halwa leaves the kadhai.
  7. Now add raisins into it and mix.
  8. Now add sugar and mix well.
  9. Cook it until it leaves the kadhai.
  10. Garnish it with chopped nuts and serve hot.
