Ingredient for daal ghiya ki sabji

  1. Lauki(dudhi or bottle gourd) -1/2 kg
  2. Chana daal(soaked for 2 hours) -1 cup
  3. Green chili(finely chopped) -1 tbsp
  4. Tomato -1 cup
  5. Onion(finely chopped) -1 cup
  6. Red chili powder -1 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  8. Black mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  9. Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  10. Curry leaves -8-10
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Oil -2 tbsp
  13. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method to prepare daal ghiya ki sabji

  1. Heat oil in the pan of a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let them to crackle, now add curry leaves in it.
  2. Now add green chili and onion in the pan and sauté it.
  3. Now add tomato and all the spices in it and cook it until the oil comes up.
  4. Now add the chana daal and lauki in the pan and one cup of water and put the lid on the pan. Now cook it for 5 minutes or until 3 whistle comes.
  5. Switch off the flame and garnish with the coriander leaves and serve hot with chapatti.
